His Words Not Mine

I’ve been encouraged in many ways over the last couple of months through God’s word. It’s amazing the difference opening up His word can make to your day.

What I’ve been trying to do more and more is start each day with His word. I say ‘trying’ because so often I’m distracted and it just doesn’t happen. Not necessarily distracted by things that aren’t of importance, we have to look after our children, go to work, prepare for the day ahead in whatever way, but now i’ve started reading the bible in the mornings, i’m seeing how essential it is as part of my preparation for the day.

I’m reading Exodus at the moment, which is an incredible book I might add! I don’t have very much time in the morning, but just a chapter or two is better than nothing. To add to this, I tend to then search through the bible until I come across a few verses to hold in my heart through the day, it doesn’t take long to do that! The bible is packed with wonderful words which focus your mind in the right place, words directly from the King Himself!

I’ve been led by the spirit to different parts of the bible over the last couple of months, and I wanted to share 10 of the verses with you.

I hope you will be encouraged!

1. Matthew 6:25-27

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

2. Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

3. Colossians 2:6-7

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

4. Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

5. John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcomethe world.”

6. Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation– whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life– of whom shall I be afraid?

7. Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

8. Isaiah 40:31

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

9. 1 Peter 5:7

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

10. Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
